BEFORE ORDERING PLEASE CHECK YOUR VEHICLES DETAILS BELOW

MK2 Caddy & Inca Van (9K) 8cm Drop plates

Drop Plates will lower the rear of your Caddy by 8cm as an alternative to the axle flip which lowers a Caddy by 10cm.

Supplied with:

2x Drop Plates (Raw steel finish)
 8 or 12 Hi-tensile bolts
depending on the plate type.

Below is a comparison between the plates and axle flip.

Drop Plate advantages:

1. Easier and less time consuming to install than an axle flip
2. You can use the Original shock absorbers

Disadvantages:

1. Only lowers 8cm
2. Will widen the rear track by 20mm
3. Rear brake pipes will need to be bent by hand slightly

4. Will require at least 16” wheels to work
5. New wheel bearings required

See our other Items for "axle flip" spring saddles, if this is a preferable option for you.

IMPORTANT FITMENT NOTES:

Two different axle types were fitted to the MK2 (9K) Caddy & Inca Vans.
We will refer to them as early & late. The changeover year was circa 1998, but see below as they were split by chassis number rather than registration date, we also highly recommend that you do a visual check before ordering.

The difference in the two axles are the axle end plates, wheel bearing hubs & brakes. So please make sure you chose the correct drop plates for you Caddy.

Option 1.

This is for the "early" axle up to chassis number >9K X 541 900 the stub axles on these bolt onto the axle with 6x M8 bolts.

Option 2.

This is for the "late" axle after chassis number 9K X 541 901> the stub axles on these bolt onto the axle with 4x M10 bolts.

(Note: On option 2. You will have to destroy your wheel bearing/hubs to fit the drop plates, so make sure you already have a pair of those before you start fitting the drop plates).

The easiest way to check which axle you Caddy/Inca has, is by removing one of your rear wheels. If your wheel bearing cap is domed, then you have the early type. If your bearing cap is flat, then you have the later type (see pics).
