When carrying out an engine conversion on a MK1, chances are that you will be upgrading to either a 02A, 02J or even an 02M gearbox, all of which are all operated by hydraulic clutches.

You do have the option of fitting a cable operated actuator instead (we can also supply these new from time to time), but these are now obsolete from VW and have a habit of pulling the cables through the bulkhead. This is a common problem with standard MK1 clutches, but even more so with the larger and often heavy duty clutches used with the above gearboxes.

We developed this hydraulic pedal box design some time back, which until now has purely been sold by word of mouth. That's not only a testament to its quality, longevity and operation, but we also put this down to the design and that we only ever use quality OEM parts or better in its manufacture as we know how important this is for reliability.

These include companies like:

AP Racing
Goodridge
Aeroquipe
Febi Bilstein
Lockeed
& Mikalor

On top of that, our metalwork is laser cut,  jigged & welded for a perfect fit every time.

With this setup you can still retain the drivers side fresh air vent pipe

We offer 5 versions of this setup, so you don’t need to buy what you don’t need (we can also tailor to suit).

  1. Modified pedal box & clutch pedal, supplied with a brand new OEM quality master cylinder.
  2. As above but with: PTFE braided hose, fittings & slave cylinder (02A/J)
  3. As above but with: Fluid reservoir, hose & clips (“ 02A/J Plug & Play”)
  4. As above but with: New Brake & clutch Pedal Rubbers (“02A/J Plug & Play”)
  5. 02M Kit. Is as kit 4 minus the slave cylinder & fitting

If you plan on fitting an 02M 6 Speed gearbox, the setup will still work but you will need to make some changes to the fittings to the slave cylinder, so please choose option 5 or contact us for more details. We are now working on a plug & play fitting kit for the 02M.
